Can You Plant Directly Into Leaf Compost
This works for bush beans maybe not alot of other plants.
Can you plant directly into leaf compost. For a full list of what you can compost see my post here. These usually contain peat spagnum perlite manure and compost. Never any real soil.
A major asset of underground composting is that you dont have to perform any extra steps to harvest the compost or amend the soil. So when you decide to plant in it the pile will be a rich mixture but not so rich that it will burn the plants. There have been ones with fresh wood as the base material Then new compost and finished with old compost.
For this reason. As the plants grow you can enhance the soil with small amounts of compost. Compost is a soil conditioner and adds organic matter.
If you want you can let nature take its course and watch the leaves decay on their own. I want to start some vegetable plants to grow in my backyard. Again as a general rule growing vegetables in pure compost isnt a good idea except purely as an experiment since sometimes it can work out.
We use a pail like this This can be kitchen scraps no meat or oil dead leaves grass clippings etc. Its decomposed completely in its humus form and wont burn up your seedlings or overwhelm them thanks to its special blend of controlled ingredients. Whats the difference between potting mix and compost.
Bio blend you can buy from Oderings and pig manure straight from a pig farm. With transplants do the same. I wonder what all the other comments you have read are based on.
